From the moment we drove up to the Lygon Arms, we were enchanted. Our heavy bags were whisked away, and we were enfolded by the friendly staff and the sense of history and comfort of the hotel itself. When we travel, we seek out places that have preserved a sense of that unique place and its history. With its expansive fireplaces, stone floors, cozy seating areas, and massive wooden beams, The Lygon Arms was exactly what we hoped for. We had dinner and breakfasts in The Grill - the main dining room - and once in the Tavern. The food was amazing, and the staff, delightful. Max, the restaurant manager, and Petra, the assistant manager were a joy and made us feel like old friends. They went out of their way to make our early morning departure less stressful by sending breakfast to our room at their suggestion. Such kindness! Sofia, Jason, and Gary in the front office were also welcoming and helpful in answering any questions and arranging transportation when we needed it. We are grateful to them all for making our visit so special in every way.

Booked an afternoon tea as a birthday treat for my mum, absolutely superb. Even brought out a special birthday plate of yummy chocolate brownies.|The whole ambiance, the staff were superb. |The actual afternoon tea was just perfect. And of course the champagne. Would love to come here to eat. But would definitely come again. Thank you for making my mums birthday special.

After our stay last year, I couldn't wait to return to The Lygon Arms. We once again stayed in the open-plan wheelchair accessible courtyard suite, which is ideal for my needs. Aside from the beautiful hotel (which looked gorgeous with the autumn colours!), the main reason for returning was the staff. They put customer service at the heart of everything they do and, once again, they didn't disappoint. They even fixed the electric bed that I'd hired from a local firm (which arrived broken), so that I was able to safely use it - talk about going above and beyond! Particular thanks go to Paul, Claire, Sophia and Petra - thank you for making our stay so special.

We have just had 2 nights at this excellent hotel. From the minute we arrived we were greeted warmly and taken through to reception. The check in was quick and easy. We were shown to our room which was spacious yet cosy. The hotel is full of old world charm with lots of nooks and crannies to tuck yourself away in and relax. The staff and service was excellent. We will be back soon.

we unfortunately couldn't stay in our usual room as it was being refurbed but were placed in a cottage room which as lovely. it has a fridge which we like as we can keep fresh milk in their which the other room doesn't have at the moment. we ate in the hotel on all 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the food, excellent service and atmosphere both in the restaurant and bar area. Cant wait to stay again.

Rather disappointing. We were really looking forward to this experience. ||Extremely limited menu in the Tavern as the grill was given over to a private function. . Very expensive. £12 for a lemon tart. I had squid and a Greek salad. Chicken pie did not have much meat and just one branch of broccoli. . Not great, would not recommend.

This place is not only historic but also a very warm and special place to stay. This is our second time staying there. Try and eat dinner in the Grille you won't be disappointed. The staff is so very responsive and willing to accommodate your every wish.

A really great experience at the Lygon arms restaurant. I was hoping I'd found a foodie spot in James Martin's Grill and indeed I did. The vegetarian dishes were absolutely delicious, despite their apparent simplicity (the tastes were actually quite complex). I loved the cocktails. The atmosphere is both elegant and warm. The staff were also extremely smiley, accommodating and really attentive - it was my boyfriend's birthday, and they were really caring. We can't wait to return to this restaurant!
