We needed somewhere along A39 to stop for lunch and this fitted the need perfectly. Attended on a warm March, so very quiet (but I can see it would get busy in summer). This is what I would call a proper pub full of history. Staff were friendly and food was quick and yummy! They have a lovely terraced garden to the side with sea views. Parking is limited but there is further parking in the pretty little town. They cater well for Gluten Free. X

Two night stay, 2 people and dog, early March. Amazing value for money. Friendly staff, good food and all very accommodating. Also I left some clothing in wardrobe, phoned up, no problem, arrived 2 days later in post. Thank you all the crew at Top Ship!

We came here for an evening meal on my partner's birthday and we were not disappointed. The menu is really well thought out with plenty of options for vegan and vegetarian as well as though wanting a more traditional game or fish meal. The portions are a bit on the large side but we very much enjoyed the food and the whole atmosphere was warm and inviting. A good night out.

Even out of season, this place is really great. We weren't entirely convinced that people from upcountry weren't considered just a necessary evil but ultimately, it's an amazing place and the food is very good.
It has a skittle alley which is brilliant for the children and adults of course.
We like to so much that we came back the next day

Just spent 2 nights at Top Ship. Cant rate it highly enough. Had problem with tv in our room and manager upgraded us to another room at no extra charge. The Mews are excellent. Breakfast and evening meals are first class. Well done chef and all the excellent staff for first class service, cant wait to come back.

Traditional pub decor, cosy with a great atmosphere and very busy.
Staff very patient with kids and dogs at the table.
Food was hearty, delicious and unlike other pubs, plated instead of being dumped on your plate.
