I think that Vista are trying to put a rather rosy gloss on the closure of their Kathleen Rutland home in their reply to Liz Harrison's honest and heartfelt Google review. The staff team at Kathleen Rutland are indeed amazing, and have been very supportive BUT - the poor guys are still losing their jobs. Former residents have indeed found new placements "within the time frame' BUT - rushed decisions have had to be made which may not necessarily be the right ones. Most of those placements are on a trial basis only and so families may have to go through the stressful process of finding alternative homes for their loved ones yet again. We are in touch with the families of several other former residents who tell us that many of their loved ones are currently struggling to adjust to their new surroundings. Vista are directly responsible for this distress and yet they have told me that they are "unable to offer support beyond the date on which a resident leaves a Vista home'. Basically, it feels like they are washing their hands of us. I am hopeful that my own relative, who is 92 and registered blind, will gradually settle into her new home. However, if she does, it will be despite the way that the Vista board has handled this closure and certainly not because of it. Vista, our "leading local sight loss charity', have displayed all the sensitivity of a barbed wire fence. They have betrayed our trust and let us down badly.

My mother has been living at Kathleen Rutland carehome for a year and a half .
Limited notice of the closure , all staff lost their jobs. Senior management gave no help at all to relatives to find places at new homes , although they say they did ! Lies after lies ! I witnessed them showing prospective buyers round the home Infront of existing residents who were having their tea .Couldn't even wait until after the 8th September when we all had to leave by .

Finding a new home when a loved one has complex health conditions was stressful , 6 relatives after 1 bed at one home . And in the time frame given . So unkind .

The immediate care staff and manager have been amazing and don't deserve to be treated this way .

We wait to see what they plan to do with the buildings at Kathleen Rutland now .....

Not a caring charity at all .
