When someone asks me where’s my safe place I’ll always say waterside when I was watching my whole world crumble and I was ready to up and leave my child I broke down and they were there with welcoming arms and warm smiles they were the listening ear I needed I joined when my baby was 4 months old at 6 months old I was ready to pack my things and leave him and today at 16 months old I can comfortably say his healing me in ways I didn’t know could be healed and it’s to waterside and the lovely staff there that has done it the people I have met on this journey of teen single motherhood are friendships I will forever cherish as those who didn’t see me as a single teen mum they saw me as a mum and most importantly they saw me as the person behind being a mum the girl who’s gone through a lot and they’ve never once judged anything I’ve said and for that it’ll forever be my safe place when life wasn’t going well and I didn’t want to leave the house I knew if I went to waterside everything would be okay even if it was for a short while. The staff are brilliant the people even better I’ve always been scared of baby groups as a young mum but there a judge free advice giving zone and I couldn’t be more happier they exist.
