Seems like a good idea in principle, however they allow farms to specify volunteers are vaccinated against COVID. This is a form of medical discrimination and does not fit with their supposed ethos (organic/healthy). When challenged they did not even consider the issue.
Edit (Nov 2023) - The Federation of WWOOF Organisations got back to me, but passed the complaint back to UK WWOOF so it continues to be ignored and unresolved. Therefore my negative review remains as is.

I've heard well of overseas WWOOF schemes, but the UK run version should be avoided at all costs. It's members have nothing to do with the genuine organic movement, which provides certification for those who practise genuine permaculture. WWOOF UK's members are a strange mix-up of hobby farmers & landed charlatans who've latched onto the fact that some gullible customers will pay many times more than market value for some knobbly veg that cost a few pennies to grow, but misleadingly labelled '0rganic'. There is no good reason why a genuine organic grower should be receiving free labour as this scheme provides because they're businesses just the same as all the other hard grafting farmers out there, all of whom suffer the vagaries of fickle weather & the vulnerability to their crops being attacked by pests & diseases. The problem with WWOOF UK's hosts is that they're people who've taken on land & livestock, but consider themselves too good to get their own hands dirty doing the daily toil that is a true farmers' lott. Their attitude is condescending & exploitative, & many of them even begrudge providing the free meals in exchange for graft done. Their attitudes & views are also questionable & seem to have more to do with influencing volunteers into fringe lifestyles that have nothing at all to do with the principles of organics; i.e: veganism; religious/superstitious practises. During my time as a volunteer I met all sides from fundamentalist Christians to pagans, but these beliefs have no connection to organic growing, despite what these hosts pretended, & neither does veganism (hence organic meat, dairy & egg farmers...) I think that the worst thing about a couple of the hosts that I visited were their disregard for even common sense Health & Safety practise, their farms more resembling death traps & I still consider myself fortunate not to have suffered serious injury while on-site. Not a way I would recommend anyone to do with their volunteering time...
