Lovely old pub which is currently revitalising after a change of publicans. The views at the rear of the building are spectacular and there is a lovely garden here. Inside there are lots of lovely little rooms with beams, low ceilings, and open fires. It is a dog friendly pub and the welcome was delightful. I went with friends to a club meeting and they have a great room with a big central table, just off the main bar area. I deliberately arrived early and had my lunch here. The menu is typical of a country pub and I opted for a staple. Fish and chips... it was freshly cooked and the fish was battered in house. It was a lovely fresh piece of fish. There was tarter sauce and lemon, as sides, together with mushy peas. The portion was decent and I really enjoyed it.
During our meeting we had teas and coffees which were nicely served on a tray. The owner and staff were very helpful and welcoming.
This pub also has accommodation but I have no information about the rooms.
This would be a great place to stop over if you were taking advantage of a weekend away.

Our personal experience of the Olde Bowling Green Inn is detailed below. |The booking experience was good having booked the day before on the telephone. The pub is in the small village of Bradwell up quite a narrow village road but the frontage of the premises is large with ample free parking in a large car park. The building is well painted and looks clean and inviting from the outside. The interior is traditional with smaller rooms off the main bar, clean and comfortable. Up onto a mezzanine style second floor is further seating, one side darker and more intimate the other side which is more like a conservatory with large window making it brighter with views over the large well presented beer garden with a good number of picnic style table ms and views over the Hope valley area.|The lady owner was friendly and accommodating as we did turn up for our booking early but that was not a problem for her. We sat on the mezzanine level on the more intimate side, everything was clean and comfortable and the service from the owners daughter was excellent. She was polite, friendly and efficient about her duties. |We had the Sunday lunch menu and there was a good choice of meat options plus vegetarian/ vegan option. The meat was served with a selection of vegetables, mashed and roast potatoes and a large Yorkshire pudding and a large jug of gravy. Proper sauces were available in ramekins; apple sauce, cranberry sauce and horse radish sauce together with the standard sauce options. The food was hot, well presented, tasty and good value. They offer standard plate or smaller plate size options and a combined two course option if required. |There is a good selection of beers from the cask as well as lager and a good selection of wine by the bottle or glass. |All in all a very good experience and well worth the money we paid.

Stayed here for our anniversary. Richard and Samantha were very welcoming and friendly and shared tips and maps for our walk. The room was spotlessly clean and the mattress very comfortable. The evening meal and breakfast were delicious and used good quality produce. I would highly recommend a stay here.

A friendly pub with warm, comfortable rooms, plenty of hot water, a hairdryer and decent WiFi plus plenty of parking. The owners go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. Not loads going on in Bradwell but some nice pubs and just a 40min walk on a footpath to Castleton via the cement works (mostly quite pleasant, honest!) if you want to avoid parking problems there (also a bus but we didn’t try this). Wish we had noticed the brewery (Intrepid) on the road north from Bradwell. Food is quite reasonable with a couple of gluten free options and just 1 vegan option. Our friends found their lasagne was a bit tepid (nothing a microwave wouldn’t sort out but they didn’t want to ask). Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order and Samantha was able to cater for our various dietary requirements (I liked the pancakey oatcakes and there is also gluten free toast, etc). Good coffee and also some cereal/fruit juice available (oat milk on request). Lovely outside area for when it does eventually warm up and dry out! I forgot to mention we didn’t need our room cleaning (who needs towels and sheets changed every day?) so suggested making this optional at check in would reduce cost and resources used. Overall an excellent place to stay as well as visit for a meal and refreshment!

A hidden gem! The room with a view, clean, comfortable, quiet B&B. Delicious and beautifully presented breakfast. We dined there every evening and the food was amazing. The quality and portions were great as was the service. No need to move the car as there are walks aplenty from the door. Samantha and her family are such lovely warm hosts, we will definitely return.

Just had an amazing 2 days stay at The Bowling Green, Samantha, Richard and Laura are fantastic hosts, very warm and friendly, couldn't do enough for us. The room was clean and very comfy especially the bed, the most comfortable I had slept in for along time.
The bar area is very welcoming, with a good selection of Beers and lagers and for me Cidar,.
Full English Breakfast is a must, absolute quality produce, very well cooked,
And then the view..... To die for,.
All in all a great stay, Definitely recommend,

The hosts were friendly and helpful, and very hardworking. Good location for visiting Castleton and the Peak District. Lovely mountain views from room and traditional pub with good food and entertainment and excellent breakfast. The room wasn't huge or ultra modern, but was clean and had all we needed. Comfortable bed, clean bedding and plenty of fluffy towels.

What an absolute gem of a pub. Fantastic food, welcoming staff, great beer garden and large area for children to play, comfy accommodation (with dog). Its not often you get a truely family run pub and this is a great example where nothing is too much.
