Tiny car park means you've to drop then move car 12 mins walk away in paid car parking. Stayed in annexe with a large group as main house was full with use of large detached, uninviting communal area. Great location yet bring EVERYTHING you need as no local shops open (January) at the weekend and expensive pubs nearly. Very much a tourist trap. Buses run to the village regularly. I would not visit Malham again due to its over-popularity.

What excellent accommodation and facilities for all us mountain bikers. Showers were fantastic with plenty of hot water and pressure. Kitchens well equipped. . Comfy beds. Quick walk to 2 pubs in the village. Would differently recommend

Stayed in a pod as only accommodation that dogs are allowed in. Very comfy nights sleep and the staff were friendly and welcoming and the facilities were spotless. Malham is a great place to visit, beautiful countryside and great walks. There are several good pubs nearby including a fully vegan hotel open to non residents.

There are a *few* positives - the hostel is in a great location for walking to Malham Cove and other nearby sites. And, the staff were very nice and helpful. The saving grace for this place, to be quite honest.

The facilities and breakfast were adequate, although parking is very limited and there are no hooks or shelves to store things in the shower rooms.

But, I had the worst night sleep here - the beds are so uncomfortable I could feel my spine and/or hip bones depending on the way I was lying. The beds are too short, so either my head or feet were pressed against the metal bars. And to top it off, I was sharing a room with people who snored so loudly that even shouting and asking them to turn over didnโ€™t wake them up. I got 2 hours sleep at best, and left the room at 7am. I couldnโ€™t bear it any longer. I could barely stay awake in the car driving home the next day, making my stay here actually quite dangerous.

My advice is to pay for somewhere half decent and get a good nights sleep, or even camp in a tent. Either way youโ€™ll have a better night sleep than staying here. Donโ€™t let this place taint your holiday like it did mine.

Fantastic location and great value for money considering where it is. Good luck getting a room in high season. We went in late October so got lucky.

We had an accessible room with ensuite accessible bathroom โ€“ room 3. Unfortunately the bathroom had a rather strong smell of the drains. I think this was due to the extractor fan that was motion-controlled along with the light. This came on and stayed on for quite a while even if you'd just popped in for a pee. The staff tried to help by pouring drain cleaner down the shower drain but it didn't have much of an effect.

Another issue was the intermittent and very noisy heating. When the radiator came to temperature, it began knocking very loudly and noisily. It was like a machine gun. It woke us up with a start a few times. We had to decide whether to have a cool quiet room or a warm room with the risk of the radiator trying to frighten us to death. Well, it was nearly Halloween!

Other than those issues, the staff were great and tried to help and assist as much as possible. The coffee was wonderful โ€“ served in cafetieres. We didn't have breakfast โ€“ not being big breakfast people.

The lounge was a bit on the cold side and too brightly lit for us. We did try to use it once but found it too bleak feeling so went to our room.

The WiFi is good and just got to our room enough for us to be able to watch the news on our devices and listen to podcasts.

The staff put out, and left out, ramps for my partner to get in and out in his electric wheelchair.

The drying room was one of the best I've come across and it worked it's wonders on my socks and walking boots.

The self-catering kitchen was very well equipped. The microwaves require a degree in astrophysics to operate. Luckily there was very helpful member of staff to assist me.

So, a very laid back place in a perfect location. A bit rough around the edges but then it is a YHA so be prepared to have an adventure.

Great value for money hostel in Malham! I had a great experience staying at YHA. I stayed in a female only dorm which was very ideal for me. They have even gone the extra mile to return an item of lost property to me ๐Ÿ™‚
