Hi - I rang to speak to someone at the Hostel it was forwarded to a number that just said - voicemail disabled - the call was dropped - not an ideal way to communicate - I was visiting the area and wanted to pop by to look at the facilities and check for hire - realising no one was on site and all locked up - I tried ringing.

We had exclusive hire and hosted our wedding party here. We had the best weekend! The communal space was great, the rooms were clean and tidy and the grounds were beautiful. The doors open onto the patio area and so the space flowed really well. The hostel staff were great at communicating and answering our many questions in the months before. Lots of great walks nearby and it felt very secluded. Cannot recommend this place enough!

We had taken a group to this YHA in July. We had just walked into the building and we had one of the door closer fall onto one of the group which they after had blamed us for the damage. They claimed we had made a noise on the ground which was true but as this seemed a very secluded area you should have been told that there are neigbours around. If you are looking for somewhere to have a great time as a group this is NOT the place. The staff on site had turned up early and claimed we had made a mess they never gave us a chance to tidy up prior to us leaving and they had then charged us extra for cleaning. I would recommend to keep far away from this hostel.

Stayed 2 nights, mid-Feb, 1 adult, 2 young children. Very warm welcome on arrival and efficient check-in. The hostel is modern, clean and well-positioned for a number of local attractions. The room was compact but clean and very warm at night, thankfully! Slight downside was the noise and timing of the bathroom fan: whilst obviously necessary, it was very loud for late night or early morning use and seemed to stay on for ages. Other than that, great little room and very clean. Informative displays on the corridors about the hostel's history and its role in the National Forest itself. We used the self-catering facilities for all of our meals. This kitchen is very well equipped (lots of fridge space and plenty of all the necessaries). Would love to revisit in the summer months so kids can play outside, we can make use of more of the external facilities and enjoy more of the local scenery. Spent a day at Conkers too: couldn't recommend it enough. Excellent value for money and kept us all engrossed for over 6 hours! Back to the hostel (hopefully), was a very pleasant, short break - well worth a visit if you're looking to explore the National Forest. Thank you for a great stay.

Really happy to have stayed with my grandson at this lovely friendly youth hostel. Super friendly and helpful staff both younger and older, male and female from reception to breakfast and cleaning staffβ¦ all were wonderful. The staff are a credit to the yha π. When my son in law forgot to pack my grandsons bedtime teddy the lady on reception went above and beyond and found one for him to borrow for our stay which avoided an evening of tears. Breakfast was excellent and comprised of a good choice of hot options as well as fresh baked croissants, selection of cereals, jams and juices, yogurt and compote and of course a good old cuppa! The beds were comfy with nice soft linen and the shower pressure was excellent. Just a couple of points to note for people visiting β¦ Iβm so glad I brought a fan as the rooms are fairly warm, the shower pressure is great for adults but not so good for younger kids as the shower is fixed on the wall at quite a height, a shower on an adjustable bar or with a flexible hose is better for smaller kids but we still kept clean! Both the bed lights did not work but not a problem for us. There a four sockets in the room which was very useful for charging phones/tablets and using the fan. Hand soap and loo roll are included in the bathroom and we had a great little double cupboard with hanging space above which was more than expected. The youth hostel is surrounded by lovely green spaces and trees and gas s ping pong table β¦ a great stay and we will be back π

As always, a real treat to find this place. Great location for cycling and walking. Lovely staff, clean kitchen (could do with some more plates but overall a nice kitchen) and a reasonable little cafe too. Breakfast very hit n miss - I probably wouldn't bother with it next time as I spent Β£40 x 3 nights to breakfast the family, but there was not enough food really and disappointed that food ran out despite our having been told when to turn up for breakfast so as to stagger it for the staff.
