Fantastic community climate hub bringing together the many groups and projects in Guildford working to restore nature and tackle the climate crisis, run by a wonderful group of volunteers. If you feel like you don't know what you can do about the climate crisis, it's a great place to get ideas for positive, practical things to get involved with - like reducing food waste through the community fridge, testing river water quality, or finding out how to insulate your home.

Claimed to be 'a vibrant public space'.

It is neither vibrant nor public.

On the rare occasions I have visited, always deserted.

Run by volunteers, who ignore you, and if do speak, not very knowledgeable on the environment, or on the products for sale.

Loose coffee beans, no way, they oxidise and will be stale. No information on the provenance of the beans, farm, variety, processing, roast date, roastery. Nor would I stop for a coffee. If wish for coffee beans, try Koja or Krema, same for a coffee, where passionate and knowledgeable about coffee.

Often bulk refill is not a good idea. Laundry liquid, shampoo, yes. Currently Bio-D and Faith in Nature on discount in Oxfam. When container empty, pop along to Solar Sisters for a refill. Try and match what is says with what you refill.

I once saw a zero waste shop posting what a great idea to refill a ketchup bottle with something toxic. What next, weedkiller in a Coke bottle, stored in the garden shed to tempt an inquisitive child?

Honest Toil, Greek cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, seek it out. Iconic bottles, can be refilled, but I do not recommend refilling.

Nuts, muesli, grains, pulses etc, support Solar Sisters, top of North Street, where they actually know what they are stocking. And unlike Zero, always a vibrant and friendly atmosphere when I have popped in.

Unfair competition to Solar Sisters, who are not freeloading, they are charged rent, businesses rates and the hated BID Levy.

Always support local indie businesses. Always support local family businesses.

Shocked by the vocal support for the activities of Stop Oil. Told it was ok to damage a painting. We need drastic reductions in carbon emissions, which will not be achieved by alienating the public. Official policy or the views of a volunteer? But even if the views of a volunteer, it is the view of Zero whilst acting for Zero.

Information boards with misleading information.

Zero sit on the board on Experience Guildford. Experience Guildford is killing struggling local businesses. BID Levy another nail in the coffin. Not a murmur raised at the travesty of an AGM last year year Experience Guildford. A local business asking questions, board refused to answer, then the AGM shut down to prevent further questions. Refusal to discuss the damage the local BID is causing to Guildford and local businesses or to listen to concerns raised by local businesses.

Not what I would expect from a community group.

Quite literally stumbled on Zero as I was on Guild Hugh street. The vast add were very welcoming and immediately took us to the Community Fridge which aims to reduce food waste. We didn’t take any food but there was some good bread and food items on the shelves. There is also a Library of Things, which I think you can borrow from. Those looking for advice on energy in the home can get advice. And there was lots to information on nature and greening urban spaces. Upstairs there is events space…..no parking.

Lovely people (volunteers) serving simple and OK coffee and cakes/treats in sustainable mugs.
Come here for the gift of giving.
Coincidentally, you frequently get buskers around/outside the place.
Fabulous to people watch too!
